Flexible connection between airbox and crossover pipe (not show in pictures above). This makes the fitting and inspection of the element much easier. Also compatible with the OEM plastic crossover pipe to turbo (using a silicon sleeve to increase OD to 4”).
Cast alloy lid and box (with black powdercoating)– moulded for optimised flow and resistance to distortion. Precision machined on sealing surface for a dust proof seal.
4” inlet and 4”outlet - to maximise air flow to the turbo and reduce turbo scavenging, which affect boost response and will help optimise AFR.
Landcruiser 200 series element– largest panel filter available throughout Australia. Allows running of OEM filter elements or aftermarket filters. The 200 series element is 20% bigger than a VDJ79 filter and 25% bigger than a Duramax filter panel.
Water drain port– to prevent build-up of water inside box from heavy downpours – uses the duckbill drain from 100 series or VDJ79 factory airbox (not included Toyota part number 17743-50010).
Latches NOT Bolts– quick inspection is possible with our stainless steel over-centre latches to allow even pressure on the seal.No spanners/sockets needed and no risk of losing bolts or over tightening to push out the seal.
These airboxes are a snug fit in the 79 series, utilising all the available space. The benefit is you get are larger surface area element and higher flow capability. A small amount of plastic needs to be sculpted off the seam of the overflow bottle and there is just enough room on the outside to get to the mounting bolt.
NOTE: Toyota modified the design of the DPF model coolant reservoir bottle shown in the picture and made is slightly larger. This has caused an interference issue for anyone wanting to install a larger panel filter airbox for anything newer than 08/2016. If you try to buy a new reservoir bottle you will be supplied with the later design, however it should be possible to buy a used bottle from the earlier cruisers.
